The node radio is on most of the time, when a control operator is available. Even with the LPLA setup, it covers most of the island (if you are using a mobile radio with an antenna, and not an HT). There is very little activity on the local radio link - usually nobody is listening but the control operator.

The node allows outgoing connections to any other EchoLink node, and accepts incoming connections from any node in Canada, the U.K., or the U.S., with a maximum of five connected stations at the same time.

Computer users are asked not the chat with each other over the node, and to instead connect to each other directly.

Notes on DTMF Commands - Please identify yourself when using any DTMF commands. DTMF commands are available to local RF users only, and will not work from stations connected via the internet. WX info, WWV info, etc. is transmitted on the local radio only - stations connected via the internet do not hear any of these announcements. Since connected stations on the internet can not hear local announcements, there may be an occasional "double" with the TTS voice. The DTMF commands for recording/playback only work when there is a station connected via the internet - it is not possible to record/playback local RF QSO's when no other EchoLink node is connected. If you send a DTMF string that is not recognized, the TTS voice will respond with "DTMF Error" - just try again.

Local weather information is derived in real time from a home weather station at the station location. Weather forecasts are provided by Ambient Weather via the internet, as are weather alerts. Current alerts or warnings will be listed automatically every 20 minutes by the TTS voice.

Feel free to use the node, that's why it's on. If you connect another station via the internet, please disconnect them when you are finished your QSO. Thanks.
